Victory for the Tigers on Senior Day

Springfield, OH -- The Wittenberg Swim and Dive team celebrated their four seniors at their home meet against Manchester University. Seniors Emma HellmannAnthony PetruzziAbby Dunasky, and Sophia Spriggs all closed out their final home meet with victories. The women defeated Manchester 115 points to 64 points while the men won with 102 points to 45. Dunasky won the 1000 yard freestyle with a time of 11:51.53, Petruzzi claimed victory in the 100 yard breaststroke clocking 1:05.53, Spriggs came in first in the 200 yard IM with a time of 2:31.32, and Hellmann won both the 1 meter and the 3 meter dive with scores of 276.60 and 294.90

Additional victories are as followed:

  • The men's 200 yard medley came in first with a time of 1:50.77. Relay members were Cody SchimmelParker RoachZach Parkman, and Quaid O'Brien
  • The women's 200 yard medley also claimed victory timing at 2:07.32 with members being Carissa SchroederMackenzie SchuldMichelle Murray, and Dunasky
  • O'Brien took first place in the 1000 yard freestyle knocking off four seconds from his seed time to giving him a 10:58.61 time
  • Murray finished first in the 200 yard free with a time of 2:17.68
  • In the 50 yard free, Roach took first clocking 23.37, over a second faster than his seed time
  • Bridget Logan and Schroeder took the top two spots in the 50 yard free at 25.96 and 29.29. Logan also won the 100 yard freestyle in a time of 58.16
  • Coming in 13 seconds faster than her competitor, Schuld took victory in the 100 yard butterfly with a time of 1:05.21. She also collected first in the 500 yard free three seconds faster than her seed time, coming in at 5:33.26
  • In a close battle, Ryan Heighton pulled in the win for a time of 58.17 in the 100 yard freestyle
  • Schimmel pulled away for a win the 100 yard backstroke at 1:05.01
  • In the 500 yard free, Parkman ran away with a time of 4:59.43, almost a minute faster than his competitor
  • The Tigers dominated the 200 yard freestyle relay at a time of 1:39.99

The Wittenberg Swim and Dive team will be back in action at the NCAC Championships hosted by Denison from February 9 to 12
