Seniors Lead Tiger At Malone Invitational

Canton, OH- The Tigers continued their weekend in Canton for the Malone Invitational, Wittenberg was one of eight teams competing on the women's side and one of seven on the men's side. Tough competition left the Tigers behind. The young team looked to seniors Marita Banta-Long and Brad Barren for help placing.

The Women: The ladies placed 5th out of eight teams racking up 376.50 points. Marita Banta-Long had three third place finishes and one fourth place finish, adding to Wittenberg's 376.50 points. Banta-Long placed 4th in the 200 yard IM with a time of 2:18.35 and 3rd in the 100 and 50 yard butterfly with times of 1:04.23 and 28.24. Banta-Long continued the night with another 3rd place time of 2:30.38 in the 200 yard butterfly. Freshman, Bridget Logan was able to help out the Tigers with places of 4th and 6th. Logan placed 4th in the 50 yard freestyle finishing at 25.87 and 6th with a time of 2:07.13 in the 200 yard freestyle and 58.08 in the 100 yard freestyle.

The Men: 6th place out of seven teams with 396 points. The Tigers were led by senior, Brad Barren who had places of 4th, 6th and 8th in a competitive pool. Barren placed 4th in the 50 yard freestyle at 22.75, 6th in the 100 yard butterfly with a time of 54.95 and 8th in the 200 yard freestyle with a tie, he finished with a time of 1:53.26.
