Men's Swimming and Diving Sends off Seniors in Style

Springfield, Ohio – Wittenberg men's swimming and diving downed the Centre College Colonels by a final score of 143-98. The Tigers celebrated the hard work and dedication put in over the past four years by Thomas Chuna (Kettering, Ohio / Fairmont), Tucker Daniel (Columbia City, Indiana/Columbia City), Sean Oberschlake (Columbus, Ohio/Grandview), and Steve Stuthers (Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania/Central Catholic). The seniors were honored during the 3m diving break with announcements of their future and a slide show of memories from their days in the red and white played in the background.

MEN'S TOP FINISHES

  • The Tigers took the top finishes in six of the 11 events on the day.
  • Sam Bott (Des Moines, Iowa/Dowling) saw success early in the 1000-yard freestyle and again in the 500-yard freestyle.
  • Wittenberg claimed first in the 200-yard IM when Stuthers touched the wall in a time of 2:02.
  • The Tiger 200-yard freestyle relay team consisting of Oberschlake, Patrick Rittenhouse (Fort Wayne, Indiana/Homestead), Nick Rittenhouse (Fort Wayne, Indiana/Homestead) and Collin Taylor (Ann Arbor, Michigan/Dexter) sealed the final victory of the day in a time of 1:34.

  • "This meet was a great way to end our home meets for the season and celebrate our seniors! You can see from the results what an impact the seniors are in the pool, but contributions go far beyond their athletic performance" said Head Coach Koukis.
