Tigers Sweep Double Dual With Transylvania, Wilmington

LEXINGTON, Ky. - The Wittenberg Tigers continued their early season winning ways with a sweep of a double dual hosted by Transylvania.

The Tiger men remained unbeaten at 4-0 in dual meet action with a 154-117 win over Wilmington and a 177-94 victory over the host Pioneers. The Tiger women were even more dominant in wins by 204-61 over Wilmington and 165-100 over Transylvania to improve to 3-1 on the campaign.

On the men's side, the first-place finishes started immediately with a top spot in the 400-yard medley relay manned by junior Stephen Stuthers (Pittsburgh, Pa./Catholic Central), senior AJ Burt (Wyoming, Ohio/Wyoming), senior James Dumstorf (Louisville, Ky./St. Xavier) and sophomore Jacob Griffith (Pickerington, Ohio/North). Burt added wins in the 1000-yard freestyle, 500-yard freestyle and 100-yard breaststroke, Dumstorf contributed a victories in the 200-yard butterfly, 100-yard butterfly and 200-yard breaststroke, senior Eric Roberts (Willits, Calif./Willits) topped the field in the 1- and 3-meter diving events, and Stuthers recorded the top time in the 200-yard Individual Medley.

The Tiger women got off to an equally impressive start, posting the top time in the 400-yard medley relay with the quartet of sophomore Amy Schulz (Waterloo, Ill./Waterloo), junior Madeline Kraft (Cape Elizabeth, Maine/Cape Elizabeth), freshman Samantha Petruzzi (Medina, Ohio/Medina) and junior Dani Lacy (Louisville, Ky./Louisville Collegiate School). Freshman Nikki McCollum (Fort Myers, Fla./Estero) added a first in the 1000-yard freestyle, Lacy was tops in the 200-yard freestyle, Kraft led in the 100-yard breaststroke, Petruzzi won the 100-yard butterfly, Schulz recorded the best time in the 200-yard Individual Medley, and freshman Kelsey Gregory (Eaton, Ohio/Eaton) touched the wall first in the 500-yard freestyle.

Wittenberg capped the day with a win in the women's 400-yard freestyle relay as junior Margaret White (Westfield, Ind./Westfield), sophomore Emalie Taylor (Ann Arbor, Mich./Dexter), freshman Emily Faas (Mason, Ohio/Mason) and junior Erica Precht (Wauseon, Ohio/Wauseon) paced the field.
