LEXINGTON, Ky. - The Wittenberg men's and women's swimming and diving teams rounded out a fine first half to the 2013-14 season with an outstanding performance at the Transylvania Invitational.

Wittenberg's men placed third in the seven-team field, compiling 478 points to trail only Rose-Hulman (995) and Franklin (564). The news was even better on the women's side as the Tigers claimed the invitational championship, checking in with 949.5 points to easily outdistance the host Pioneers, who finished second with 520 points.

The news was just as positive on an individual basis, with a pair of school records established and multiple NCAA B cut provisional qualifying standards earned. Leading the way was sophomore Dani Lacy (Louisville, Ky./Louisville Collegiate School), who finished third in the 50-yard freestyle, first in the 200-yard freestyle and first in the 100-yard freestyle in a school-record time of 52.47. She also anchored a pair of first-place relays as the Tigers took the top spot in the 200-yard medley relay and the 400-yard freestyle relay.

Lacy was joined on the 200 medley relay by senior Sarah Wilson (Centennial, Colo./Arapahoe), senior Molly Gustafson (West Hartford, Conn./Conard) and freshman Amy Schulz (Waterloo, Ill./Waterloo). On the 400 free relay, the rest of the quartet was comprised of freshman Faas, freshman Emalie Taylor (Ann Arbor, Mich./Dexter) and sophomore Margaret White (Westfield, Ind./Westfield).

White and Faas also were members of the 800-yard freestyle relay that took first place. They were joined by Schulz and senior Courtney Carani (Lake Bluff, Ill./Lake Forest).

Schulz added third place in the 200-yard Individual Medley and first in the 100-yard butterfly, Wilson took third in the 200-yard backstroke and second in the 100-yard backstroke, White claimed first in the 500-yard freestyle and third in the 200-yard freestyle, sophomore Madeline Kraft (Cape Elizabeth, Maine/Cape Elizabeth) picked up second place in the 100-yard breaststroke, junior Melissa Hascher (Cincinnati, Ohio/Anderson) checked in third in the 500-yard freestyle, and senior Claire Kozlowski (Dublin, Ohio/Jerome) touched third in the 200-yard breaststroke.

Rounding things out for the Tiger women were Gustafson with a pair of dominating performances in the 100-yard and 200-yard breaststroke events and freshman Emily Allen (Camp Hill, Pa./Cedar Cliff) with a blue ribbons in the 1-meter diving and runner-up honors in the 3-meter. Allen's performance in the 1-meter diving earned an NCAA B cut.

The Tiger men were led by junior James Dumstorf (Louisville, Ky./St. Xavier), who finished second in the 200-yard Individual Medley, first in the 100-yard breaststroke and first in the 200-yard breaststroke. Both breaststroke performances were good for NCAA B cuts.

Dumstorf was also a member of two third-place relays. He was joined on the 200-yard medley relay by sophomore Steven Stuthers (Pittsburgh, Pa./Central Catholic), freshman Jacob Griffith (Pickerington, Ohio/North) and junior Jared Crum (Galveston, Ind./Lewis Cass). The 400-yard freestyle relay included senior Will London (Cincinnati, Ohio/St. Xavier), Griffith, Crum and Dumstorf.

Stuthers also added a second-place finish in the 400-yard Individual Medley.

Finally, sophomore Kevin Duhl (Westerville, Ohio/North) put together a tremendous weekend, placing first in both the 3-meter and first 1-meter diving events.
