Tigers Drop Dual At NCAC Rival DePauw

GREENCASTLE, Ind. – The Wittenberg men's and women's swimming and diving teams dropped matching dual meet decisions to North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) rival DePauw.

The Tiger men fell by a score of 164-121, while the Tiger women lost by a 161-134 margin. Wittenberg's teams are both now 2-1 in 2012-13 dual meets, all against NCAC rivals over the season's first two weekends.

On the men's side, the Tigers were paced by sophomore James Dumstorf (Louisville, Ky./St. Xavier) with a first-place finish in the 200-yard breaststroke. He also turned in a strong swim in the 200-yard butterfly, placing second in a time of 2:01.18.

Also of note was the performance of sophomore AJ Burt (Wyoming, Ohio/Wyoming). He placed second in the 100-yard breaststroke and 200-yard breaststroke events, in addition to the 200-yard Individual Medley.

The Tigers were particularly strong in the diving competitions as sophomore Eric Roberts (Willits, Calif./Willits) and freshman Kevin Duhl (Westerville, Ohio/North) went 1-2 in both the 1-meter and 3-meter events.

For the women, the meet started on a high note with a first-place finish in the 400-yard medley relay as the quartet of junior Sarah Wilson (Centennial, Colo./Arapahoe), junior Molly Gustafson (West Hartford, Conn./Conard), senior Jane Tsivitse (Wyoming, Ohio/Wyoming) and freshman Dani Lacy (Louisville, Ky./Louisville Collegiate School) touched the wall ahead of the DePauw teams.

Wilson added a win in the 100-yard backstroke, Gustafson took the top spot in the 100-yard breaststroke, and Tsivitse claimed the blue ribbon position in the 200-yard butterfly and 100-yard butterfly events. In addition, senior Ward McNulty (Glencoe, Ill./New Trier) finished first in the 50-yard freestyle.
