Tiger Teams Both Cruise Past Hiram

HIRAM, Ohio — The Wittenberg men's and women's swimming and diving teams rolled past the Hiram Terriers in North Coast Athletic Conference action Saturday. The men improved to 8-2 in dual meet action, while the women moved to 6-4 on the season.

The Tiger teams combined to win all but seven of the 26 events, the men winning by a decisive 127-71 score, and the women by a similarly dominant 138-92.

The women saw nine different individuals capture first-place finishes in addition to a No. 1-showing from the 200 medley relay team of sophomore Rachel Lee (Hickory, NC/Hickory), junior Katie Sbrocco (Highland Heights, Ohio/Mayfield), sophomore Keaton Hannon (Peachtree City, Ga./McIntosh), and senior Janna House (St. Thomas, Ontario/Central Elgin Collegiate Institute). House also picked up a first-place finish in the 400 free, and Hannon was first in the 200 individual medley.

Senior Emily Roesch (Oakland, Mich./Lake Orion) nabbed first in the 800 free, while teammate sophomore Sinjin McNicholl (Indianapolis, Ind./Ben Davis) was first in the 50 free. Freshman Jane Tsivitse (Wyoming, Ohio/Wyoming) added a first-place finish in the 200 fly, freshman Ward McNulty (Glencoe, Ill./New Trier) accomplished the same feat in the the 100 freestyle, and senior Adeline Brym (Mansfield, Ohio/Lexington) was first took the top spot in the 200 backstroke. Rounding out the women's first-place finishes were Junior Megan Shubitwoski (Columbus, Ohio/Watterson) from the three-meter board, and freshman Rachel Nuzzo (Mentor, Ohio/Mentor) in the 200 breaststroke.

The men finished first in two relays, including the 200 medley, composed of senior Taylor Smith (Mansfield, Ohio/Senior), freshman Michael Garza (Dayton, Ohio/Hampton), junior Conor O'Rourke (Mendham, NJ/Canterbury School), and senior Bobby Ritzi (Beavercreek, Ohio/Beavercreek), and the 200 freestyle relay, made up of Ritzi, Smith, senior Brandon Bock (Bryan, Ohio/Bryan) and junior Zachary Stewart (Vincennes, Ind./Lincoln).

Other first-place finishers for the men include junior Chris Culkin (Novi, Mich./Northville) in the 800 free and 400 free, junior Phil Bambach (Dublin, Ohio.Jerome) in the 200 individual medley, senior Neil Anderson (Lakewood, Ohio/Lakewood) in the 200 butterfly, and sophomore Ted Hutchinson (Sudbury, Mass./Lincoln-Sudbury Regional) in the 200 backstroke.

The Tigers swim next at Centre College on Saturday, Jan. 23, in a 1 p.m. meet.
