Springfield, OH – Trailing at the half, down 1-0. The Wittenberg Men's Soccer team tallied two goals during the final 45-minutes to capture the 2-1 win over the visiting La Roche Redhawks at Edwards-Maurer Field. This win gives the Tigers a five-game win streak, as they improve to 5-2-1 on the season.
The Tigers controlled the possession throughout the match. Wittenberg tallied 22 shots, placing 10 on frame compared to La Roche's five shots and just three on target. Though the Redhawks were the first strike, the Tigers were still on the hunt for the equalizer. Christopher Meyer found the back of the net in the 56th minute for his first collegiate goal, bringing the game back to even at 1-1.
With just under 10-minutes remaining, Kees Ciric found Marcus Orton for the game-winner in the 81st minute.
The scoring opportunities were not limited to the Tiger offense with Josh Pawlicki leading the scoring chances, putting up six shots with two on frame. Salih Mohammed added four shots, with Cameron Elliot and Meyer adding three apiece. Wittenberg held the corner kick advantage 6-1.
Wittenberg will travel to Heidelberg on Wednesday, September 28 to take on the Student Princes for a 4:00 pm kickoff.
