Tigers Fall In Home Opener To Wilmington

Springfield, OH – The Wittenberg Tiger Men's Soccer team made the Edwards-Maurer Field debut on Monday night under the lights, falling to the Quakers from Wilmington College 2-0. The physical contest saw the ref issue multiple cards to both sides with Wilmington logging 16 fouls and Wittenberg adding 18. The two sides were deadlocked at 0-0, going into the break. Equally matched on shots, Wittenberg led the attacking margin 8-7 in the first half.

  • Sam Nitzberg made his first collegiate start in goal for the Tigers, making nine saves against 11 shots on goal.
  • Nick Harding led the Tiger attack with three shots putting two on target.
  • Christopher Meyer  and Jack Pascoal each added two shots apiece with Pascoal placing both of his attempts on frame.

The Tigers will return to action at the 2022 Raven/Spartan Classic. Wittenberg will first take on Manchester University on Saturday, September 10 at 1:00 pm. The Tigers will return to action on Sunday, September 11 at 2:00 pm to take on the Ravens from Anderson University.
