Tigers Close Their Season With a Loss Against Allegheny

Meadville, PA -- The Tigers traveled to Allegheny College where they took on the Gators for their final match of the season, falling to Allegheny 3-2 making thier final record 6-9-3. The Tigers pressed the Gator defense, taking 30 shots with 11 different players sending it to the goal. Wittenberg was led by freshman Kees Ciric who had eight shots with two on goal. Ciric wasted no time making a name for himself in his freshman season, scoring less than 90 seconds into the match, assisted by senior Gus EsterlineCiric appeared in 17 of the 18 games played with four goals and four assists. 

This is Esterline's final career assist and match playing in a total of 43 games and starting 19. Esterline collected three goals and three assists over his four-year career in the Red and White. Senior goaltender Jason Bowen made five saves of the eight taken on goal by the Gators. This adds his total goals saved in his career to 150 in his four-year career. Bowen closes his soccer career with the Tigers with a save percentage of .743 playing 34 games, starting 32, excluding the 2020 season.

The Gators scored three unanswered goals until the 51st minute withsenior Eli Esterline going unassisted with a goal, the final of the match. Esterline had five shots, two on frame adding to his striking career for Wittenberg. With 45 shots on goal in four years, Esterline tallied 10 goals with nine coming this year. He sits at fourth in the NCAC for shots taken this year with 56, 26 between the goal posts and playing in a total of 52 games overall where he started in 27 for the Red and White. 

The Tigers graduate these three seniors, bringing back the remainder of the roster with head coach Dwight Burgess.
