Men's Soccer Takes the Draw against the Gators

Meadville, Pa. – Men's soccer found themselves in a defensive battle against the Gators of Allegheny, ending the NCAC match-up in a draw. After 110 minutes of action, the Tigers tallied their first tie of the 2018 season after the Saturday afternoon road game.

Despite the defensive stand between the teams, Wittenberg stepped up and placed two shots on goal of nine total. Ross Angelo and Gus Esterline tallied the two shots on goal in the 85th and 92nd minutes respectively, attempting the comeback late in the match-up. Eli Esterline tallied two total shots as six other Tigers contribute to the nine total shots count.

Jason Bowen recorded all 110 minutes in goal, as the rookie recorded 10 saves through the match-up. In his seventh appearance in goal, the rookie tallied his seventh game allowing no goals. The Tigers' defense stood up the Allegheny despite the Gators taking more attempts at the net. The defense pushed back against the corner attack, which the Gators controlled 10-2.

The men's soccer squad returns home for two straight games to bring the regular season to a close. Wittenberg will host Ohio Wesleyan on Tuesday, October 23 and will take on the Battling Bishops in an under the lights thriller, with kickoff at 7:00PM.
