Men's Soccer Takes Marietta Into OT Battle

Springfield, Ohio – The Wittenberg men's soccer team fell in heartbreaking fashion on Sunday afternoon to the Pioneers of Marietta College. The two sides battled it out for 90 minutes plus some extra-time, as Marietta would net the winning goal in the 96th minute of action to take the 1-0 victory.

 

GAME BREAKDOWN

  • Wittenberg had their scoring opportunities throughout the game, taking 11 shots, while Marietta kept the pressure on the Tigers with 22 shots and 10 against the Wittenberg frame.
  • Freshman keeper Jason Bowen made his debut in the net for the Tigers, making nine saves on 10 shots on goal from the Pioneers.
  • Wittenberg had their chances with set-pieces, leading the corner kick attempts 8 to 4 on the afternoon
