Springfield, Ohio – The Wittenberg men's soccer team won their second straight game on Sunday afternoon, taking the 2-1 decision from Yeomen of NCAC rival Oberlin College. This is the first time the Tigers have taken down the Yeomen since 2011, and Wittenberg tied Oberlin in 2013. The physical contest got chippy early, with three cards being displayed to the Wittenberg side before the final whistle. No stranger to the pushing and shoving of a conference game, Austin Lewis fought his way into the Oberlin box to draw the foul on the Oberlin defender. As Lewis was unable to first convert on his penalty kick attempt, he was quick to react and strike for a second chance to follow his shot and give Wittenberg the 1-0 lead.
GAME NOTES
- Alex Benoit put the final goal in for the Tigers on a fantastic finish to beat the Oberlin keeper just shy of the 73rd minute.
- Wittenberg would win the shot total at the end of the game, taking 17 shots to the Yeomen five.
- Jack Snider faced four shots on goal, making three saves on the afternoon.

"Today's win was a tough one, but they're all tough when it comes to NCAC play. We limited Oberlin to 5 shots over 90 minutes with a group of defenders who had never played together before today. That reflects the team mindset we're trying to build as we get Wittenberg men's soccer back on track. Still, we have 7 games to go, Monday it's back to work," Head Coach Dwight Burgess said.
