Men's Soccer Takes Down Earlham 4-1

Springfield, Ohio – The Wittenberg men's soccer team got back on the winning track, taking down the Quakers of Earlham College 4-1 in their second home contest of the season on Tuesday evening. The Tigers came out firing, putting eight shots on goal through the first half. Wittenberg wasted no time putting their first goal in the back of the net, as Nick Togilatti worked a pass to Austin Lewis for the Tigers first goal of the game after just 13 minutes of action. Togilatti would get his chance to stretch the netting just moments later, lacing the David Quayle cross past the Earlham keeper to give Wittenberg a quick 2-0 lead after just sixteen minutes.

GAME NOTES

  • Sam Bechtel would dissect the Earlham defense to slot the final Wittenberg goal of the first half, giving the Tigers a 3-0 lead going into the break.
  • The Quakers would score their only goal with five minutes left in the game, as Wittenberg led the shot column 18-5 throughout the game.
  • The final goal came by some fancy footwork by freshman Jesse Grubb, making space at the top of the Quakers 18-yard box to seal the 4-1 win.
