Tigers Place Two On All-Tournament Team

Wilmington, Ohio – The Wittenberg men's soccer team took part in the Wilmington Kiwanis Classic over the weekend. The Tigers opened the weekend on Friday night with tournament host Wilmington, falling to the Quakers 4-0 after leading in the shot total on the night. Wittenberg closed out the weekend's action with a tough fought battle against NCAA Tournament team Hanover, having their final shot on goal blocked in the final 20 seconds before the Panthers would take the final decision 1-0. Both Edwin Blanco Chancay and Austin Lewis would represent the Tigers on the 2017 Wilmington Kiwanis Classic All-Tournament Team.

WEEKEND NOTES

  • The Tigers season has been limited by early injuries and illnesses, over the past 3.5 games Wittenberg has been limited to playing with one or two available defenders.
  • Missing 14 varsity guys, the Tigers played 9 freshmen and 7 sophomores against the NCAA Tournament appearing Panthers of Hanover.
