SPRINGFIELD, Ohio - The Wittenberg Tigers took on the visiting Big Red of Denison at Edwards-Maurer field looking for their first North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) win of the year on a cold night plagued with rain. For the third time in eight league games in 2015, the Tigers came up on the short end of a one-goal decision.

The loss dropped Wittenberg to 3-12-3 overall on the season, including a record of 0-7-1 in the NCAC. Denison remained in the hunt for one of four NCAC Tournament spots with records of 11-2-3 overall and 3-2-3 in the league.

The game was scoreless until the 27th minute when Denison scored the first goal of the night. It took the Tigers a little more than 10 minutes to level the score as sophomore Teddy Price (Indianapolis, Ind/Cathedral) scored the equalizing unassisted goal for the Tigers in the 38th minute.

Just two minutes later, freshman Alberto Zaragoza (New Carlisle, Ohio/Tecumseh) scored an unassisted goal to give the Tigers a one-goal lead. That would be how the first half would end and set the stage for the second half of action.

In the second half, the Big Red evened the score in the 63rd minute, and Denison took its first lead of the night with just 8:30 remaining. The Tigers didn't go down without a fight, however, but after mounting two desperate attacks towards goal and earning a corner kick in the final minute, Wittenberg was saddled with a 3-2 defeat.

The Tigers put 50 percent of their shots on goal as four of eight attempts were either saved or found the back of the net. Wittenberg led the corner kick battle with a total of six. Denison finished with nine shots and five corner kicks in the game.

Freshman Jack Snider (Beavercreek, Ohio/Beavercreek) started his 12th game of the season in goal for Wittenberg.  Snider made 2 saves.

The Tigers are scheduled to conclude their season at home on Saturday, Oct. 31, against Wooster. Wittenberg will honor three seniors and all of their collegiate accomplishments before the game.
