Wabash Pulls Away For 2-0 Shutout Of Visiting Tigers

CRAWFORDSVILLE, Ind. - The Wittenberg Tigers fell to 3-11-2 overall and 0-6-0 in the North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) with a 2-0 loss on the road at Wabash.

The loss was Wittenberg's sixth in a row, all in league play. Wabash improved to 10-3-2 overall and 2-2-2 in the NCAC, remaining in the hunt for one of four spots in the league tournament that starts in two weeks.

After Wabash opened the scoring in the 16th minute, the Little Giants took full control of the game after Wittenberg went a man down in the 32nd minute. Wabash outshot the shorthanded Tigers by a final margin of 22-4 and attempted 11 corner kicks to three for Wittenberg, and the Little Giants finally put the game out of reach in the 90th minute with a second goal.

Wittenberg's four shots in the game came from sophomore Andrew Yokum (Waterville, Ohio/Anthony Wayne), freshman Alberto Zaragoza (New Carlisle, Ohio/Tecumseh), sophomore Cameron Ferguson (Westerville, Ohio/South) and freshman Robbie Russell (New Carlisle, Ohio/Tecumseh). In goal, freshman Hunter Bock (Pataskala, Ohio/Watkins Memorial) was credited with eight saves.

Wittenberg is back in action on Saturday, Oct. 24, with another league road trip to Hiram.
