SPRINGFIELD, Ohio – The Wittenberg Tigers suffered a heartbreaking overtime loss to 17th-ranked DePauw 3-2 at Edwards-Maurer Field.

The Tigers of Wittenberg showed poise and confidence as they took a 1-0 lead in the first half. Wittenberg was able to find the back of the net in the 20th minute off the foot of junior Patrick Szymczak (Westerville, Ohio/South), while the defense provided reassuring support from the back line.

The second half kicked off with an equalizing goal by the visiting Tigers in the 54th minute. Wittenberg was back on the offensive just three minutes later as sophomore Cameron Ferguson (Westerville, Ohio/South) capitalized off the misplayed DePauw throw-in in front of its own goal box. DePauw's Adrian Ables had the answer, however, as he tied the score at 2-2 in the 74th minute.

DePauw then captured the road win to remain unbeaten in North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) play with a goal 7:36 into overtime. The visiting Tigers' Mitch Reavis came up with a volley from atop the Wittenberg 18' to end the game, which dropped the host Tigers to 3-9-2 overall and 0-4-0 in the league.

DePauw held a 21-11 advantage in shots in the game. The game ended with 24 total fouls called and six yellow cards issued. Four cautions went Wittenberg's way and two went to DePauw.

In goal, Wittenberg picked up six saves from freshman netminder Hunter Bock (Pataskala, Ohio/Watkins Memorial).
