SPRINGFIELD, Ohio - The Wittenberg Tigers bounced back from a disappointing weekend road trip to Wisconsin with a 4-0 shutout of Bluffton.

The win pushed the Tigers back to 3-5-2 overall, heading into the annual trek through the North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC). The Tigers' nine-game league slate starts with a road trip to second-ranked Kenyon at 3:30 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 26.

Wittenberg dominated play against the Beavers, outshooting Bluffton by a 21-5 margin and collecting nine corner kick opportunities to five for the visitors. The Tigers found the back of the net twice in each half, while Bluffton's goalkeeper made seven saves and Beaver defenders were credited with three other team saves.

Freshman goalkeeper Hunter Bock (Pataskala, Ohio/Watkins Memorial) picked up his first decision between the pipes. He was not forced into a save, although Bluffton did squeeze five shots off in the direction of the Wittenberg goal.

Freshmen Alberto Zaragoza (New Carlisle, Ohio/Tecumseh) and Robbie Russell (New Carlisle, Ohio/Tecumseh) led Wittenberg's offense with five shots apiece. Zaragoza scored one goal and Russell had a pair, in addition to a Bluffton own goal.

Junior Patrick Szymczak (Westerville, Ohio/South) served a pair of assists in the game.
