MEADVILLE, Pa. – The Wittenberg men's soccer team ended the 2014 season on a particularly high note, beating Allegheny 2-1 on the road to improve to 7-10-1 overall and 2-7-0 in the North Coast Athletic Conference.

After falling on the other side of a 2-1 score several times this year, the Tigers turned the score around thanks to a score by freshman Alexandre Veuthey (Geneva, Switzerland) just 6:20 into the match.

Allegheny evened the tally only 11 minutes later, and 50 minutes of scoreless soccer followed. It was Allegheny that blinked first as the Gators unintentionally put the ball in their own goal in the 67th minute for what would become the deciding goal.

Senior Reed Glosser (Toledo, Ohio/Ottawa Hills), sophomore Josh Marks (Bushey, England/Watford Grammar School for Boys), senior Adam Pitchel (Dayton, Ohio/Centerville) and senior Joe Poff (Vandalia, Ohio/Butler) all shot the ball twice. Senior Mitch Rudibaugh (Dublin, Ohio/Coffman), sophomore Tucker Stas (Bexley, Ohio/Bexley), freshman Matthew Bayler (Brownsburg, Ind./Cardinal Ritter), senior Brian Boutin (Mount Vernon, Ohio/Mount Vernon) and Veuthey all finished with one shot.

Sophomore John Long (Dublin, Ohio/Columbus Academy), junior Zack Moore (Kettering, Ohio/Alter), freshman Teddy Price (Indianapolis, Ind./Cathedral), freshman Alberto Gonzalez (New Carlisle, Ohio/Tecumseh), sophomore Patrick Szymczak (Westerville, Ohio/South), freshman Josh McErlean (Columbus, Ohio/Westerville South), freshman Andrew Yokum (Waterville, Ohio/Anthony Wayne) and freshman Daniel Roberts (Findlay, Ohio/Van Buren) all appeared in the game and contributed to the victory away from the opponent's goal.

Senior James Van Artsdalen (Riverwoods, Ill./Deerfield) played all 90 minutes in goal and stopped five shots.
