SPRINGFIELD, Ohio - The Wittenberg Tigers closed out the home portion of the 2014 season with a 5-0 loss to sixth-ranked Kenyon.

The loss dropped the Tigers to 6-10-1 overall and 1-7-0 in the North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC), heading into the season finale at Allegheny at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 1. Kenyon continued to build momentum for what the Lords hope will be a deep postseason run, improving to 14-1-1 overall and 6-1-1 in the league.

The Lords opened the scoring with a goal in the 36th minute. After carrying that 1-0 edge into the halftime intermission before breaking the game open with four goals in the second half.

The game was more evenly played than the final score line would suggest, as the Tigers piled up a respectable seven shots in each half, compared to 28 total by Kenyon. The Lords attempted seven corner kicks, while Wittenberg finished with four.

Senior Brian Boutin (Mount Vernon, Ohio/Mount Vernon) led the Tigers with four shots, including three on frame. Freshman Cameron Ferguson (Westerville, Ohio/South) added two shots.

Senior James Van Artsdalen (Riverwoods, Ill./Deerfield) made the start in goal and was credited with five saves in the game before giving way to junior David Barth (Findlay, Ohio/Cypress Ranch (Texas)) for the last 16:10.
