Tigers Drop 4-0 Decision To Ohio Wesleyan

SPRINGFIELD, Ohio - The Wittenberg Tigers saw their overall record even out at 5-5-1 after a 4-0 home loss to North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) rival Ohio Wesleyan.

The Battling Bishops scored a pair of goals in the first half and followed that with two goals in an eight-minute span of the second half en route to the victory. OWU improved to 8-3-1 overall and 2-0-0 in the NCAC, while the Tigers fell to 0-2-0 in the league.

The night started with a penalty kick by Ohio Wesleyan's Colton Bloecher just 1:55 into the game, the first of 22 Battling Bishop shots. After the two teams played a fairly even 30-minute stretch, the Tigers were stunned when OWU's Nick Norman went on a lengthy run from left back position to score at the 33:35 mark.

Bloecher put the game out of reach of with a pair of second-half scores, the first on a header off a corner kick and the second on a breakaway. He finished the game with seven shots, one less than the entire Wittenberg team.

Seniors Brian Boutin (Mount Vernon, Ohio/Mount Vernon) and Adam Pitchel (Centerville, Ohio/Centerville) finished with a team-best two shots each, a total matched by freshman Nick Foley (Fishers, Ind./Cathedral). At the other end of the field, senior James Van Artsdalen (Riverview, Ill./Deerfield) made seven saves.
