BLUFFTON, Ohio - The Wittenberg Tigers saw their three-game winning streak snapped as Bluffton held off a comeback attempt to secure a 2-1 victory.

The loss dropped the Tigers, who had beaten three straight Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) foes in the a five-day stretch, to 5-3-1 on the season. Bluffton, also an HCAC member, improved to 2-6.

Bluffton got on the board first with a goal in the 30th minute, snapping the Tigers' three-game shutout streak. The Beavers added a valuable insurance score in the 72nd minute.

Wittenberg, which outshot Bluffton by a 15-10 margin, pulled one goal back as freshman Alexandre Veuthey (Geneva, Switzerland) scored his third goal in a week. Freshman Josh McErlean (Columbus, Ohio/Westerville South) was credited with the assist.

That was all the scoring Wittenberg could muster, however. Veuthey and senior Joe Poff (Vandalia, Ohio/Butler) led the Tigers with two shots each as 13 different Wittenberg players took at least one attempt on the Beavers' goal.

At the other end, senior James Van Artsdalen (Riverwoods, Ill./Deerfield) made four saves in goal.
