WESTERVILLE, Ohio – The Wittenberg men's soccer team improved to 2-1-1 on the season with a 2-0 win over Otterbein on Sunday.

Junior Zack Moore (Kettering, Ohio/Alter) and freshman Josh McErlean (Columbus, Ohio/Westerville South) provided the scoring, with McErlean netting his first collegiate goal in front of a hometown crowd.

The Tigers scored once early and once late. Moore converted a cross from sophomore Josh Marks (Bushey, England/Watford Grammar School for Boys) into a tally with a header just 8:30 into the match. Almost 80 minutes later, McErlean headed a corner kick by senior Adam Pitchel (Dayton, Ohio/Centerville) into the goal with just 2:10 remaining.

That was all the Tigers needed as senior goalkeeper James Van Artsdalen (Riverwoods, Ill./Deerfield) made nine saves and shutout the Cardinals

In front of Van Artsdalen, the Tiger defense was led in its efforts by freshman Cameron Ferguson (Westerville, Ohio/South).

The Tigers' packed opening schedule concludes with its fourth game in nine days on Wednesday, Sept. 10, as they host Ohio Northern at 7:30 p.m. at Edwards-Maurer Field. WittenbergTigers.com will feature live stats and live video of the match. The team then has a six-day layoff before hosting Mount St. Joseph on Tuesday, Sept. 16.
