CRAWFORDSVILLE, Ind. - For the first time in two years, the Wittenberg men's soccer team was a winner against a North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) after earning a 1-0 victory over host Wabash.

Senior Tim Weissman (Kettering, Ohio/Fairmont) pushed forward from his customary defensive position to score the game's long goal with a mere 54 seconds left on the clock. His finish came off a feed from senior Kevin Bond (Bexley, Ohio/Bexley).

The score gave Wittenberg its first conference victory since a 1-0 decision against the Little Giants on the same field in 2011. The Tigers improved to 5-10-1 overall and 1-4-1 in the NCAC, while Wabash fell to 2-10-2 overall and 0-5-1 in the league.

The Little Giants held a narrow 16-15 advantage in shots. Of Wittenberg's 15 attempts on goal, just three were on target, with Wabash's goalkeeper making one save and another shot getting cleared off the line by a defender.

At the other end of the field, junior James Van Artsdalen (Riverwoods, Ill./Deerfield) was credited with five saves as the Tigers recorded their second shutout of the 2013 season.
