ADA, Ohio – Wittenberg men's soccer traveled to Ada, Ohio, on Tuesday night hoping it would turn out more like the last time they made the trip, but Ohio Northern defended home turf and handed the Tigers a 6-0 loss.

The last time the Tigers and Polar Bears met in Ada, on Sept. 13, 2011, Ohio Northern ranked third in the nation according to the NSCAA coaches' poll, and Wittenberg fought to a 1-1 tie. This time around, the hosts are ranked eighth in the nation but knew to expect a scrappy visitor.

The loss drops Wittenberg to 2-4 with four non-conference games remaining, including the next three matches before the North Coast Athletic Conference season starts against Oberlin on Saturday, Sept. 28.

The Tigers managed seven shots against Ohio Northern, led by two apiece for freshmen Andre Lorenz (Apple Creek, Ohio/Waynedale) and Patrick Szymczak (Westerville, Ohio/South).

Junior Reed Glosser (Toledo, Ohio/Ottawa Hills), sophomore Zack Moore (Kettering, Ohio/Alter) and senior Kevin Bond (Bexley, Ohio/Bexley) all tallied one shot in the match.

Wittenberg returns to Springfield for its home opener on Saturday, Sept. 14, hosting the Bluffton Beavers at 3:30 p.m. at Edwards-Maurer Field.
