WILMINGTON, Ohio – Wilmington jumped on the Wittenberg men's soccer team with three second-half goals to break open a close game and capture a 4-1 victory in the finale of the 2013 Wilmington Kiwanis Classic.

The loss dropped the Tigers back under the .500 mark at 2-3 overall. It also capped a busy first eight days of the season, which included a 2-2 record against Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) teams.

The Quakers, who picked up their first win of the season against three losses, got on the board first in the 13th minute, but Wittenberg had the answer in the 27th minute on an unassisted tally by junior Reed Glosser (Toledo, Ohio/Ottawa Hills). But after the two teams went into the locker room knotted at 1-1 at halftime, Wilmington took control with a trio of scores in the second half.

For the game, Wilmington held a 20-10 advantage in shots and a 3-2 edge in corner kicks. Junior goalkeeper James Van Artsdalen (Riverview, Ill./Deerfield) was credited with six saves in the game. Glosser, freshman Josh Marks (Hertfordshire, England/Watford Grammar School for Boys) and freshman Patrick Szymczak (Westerville, Ohio/South) each led the Tigers with two shots.

After the game, it was announced that senior Kevin Bond (Bexley, Ohio/Bexley), who had the game-winning goal inside the final second in Friday's win over Marietta, had been named to the all-tournament team.

Wittenberg's annual OAC tour concludes Tuesday with a road trip to Ohio Northern.
