CRESTVIEW HILLS, Ky. - What once was a tie game turned into a rout for host Thomas More as the Saints defeated Wittenberg 6-1 in a non-conference men's soccer match-up.

The loss dropped the Tigers to 1-2 on the young season, while Thomas More evened its record at 1-1.

The Saints got on the board first, but Wittenberg came up with the equalizer in the 25th minute. Senior Kevin Bond (Bexley, Ohio/Bexley) continued his hot start with an unassisted goal that made the score 1-1.

Thomas More took control quickly, responding with a goal just five minutes later and another a mere 17 seconds later. The Saints put the game out of reach with three more goals in the second half, amazingly all clustered within a four-minute span.

The home side held a 14-5 advantage in shots, in addition to a 5-2 edge in corner kick opportunities. Bond and freshman Tucker Stas (Bexley, Ohio/Bexley) each were credited with two shots in the game.

At the other end of the field, juniors James Van Artsdalen (Riverwoods, Ill./Deerfield) and Jeff Mengerink (Delaware, Ohio/Hayes) split the 90 minutes in goal for Wittenberg. Combined, they were credited with three saves.
