SPRINGFIELD, Ohio - The Wittenberg men's soccer team put the finishing touches on the 2012 season with a 4-0 loss to visiting North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) rival Kenyon.

The loss was Wittenberg's ninth in a row after a 5-3-2 start, dropping the Tigers to a 5-12-2 overall mark. In the NCAC, Wittenberg finished 10th with an 0-8-1 record, while Kenyon became one of the four teams to qualify for the conference tournament with a 5-2-2 record that complements a 9-6-2 overall mark.

The game marked the final appearance in the Red & White for five Tiger seniors, who were honored before the game: Daniel Broidy (Bexley, Ohio/Bexley), Marshall Rowland (Pewee Valley, Ky./South Oldham), Moses Mbeseha (State College, Pa./State College), Brock Hicks (New Albany, Ohio/New Albany) and Alejandro Garcia (Toledo, Ohio/St. Francis).

The Lords jumped on top almost from the outset, racking up 13 shots to Wittenberg's two in the first half. Three of those shots found the back of the Tigers' net, starting with a left-footed shot from the top of the penalty area in the 17th minute and continuing with a header off a free kick just two minutes later and then a re-direction off a short cross in the 30th minute. Kenyon capped the scoring nine minutes into the second half.

For the game, Kenyon outshot the Tigers 22-5 and attempted nine corner kicks to three for Wittenberg. Sophomore Jeff Mengerink (Delaware, Ohio/Hayes) started in goal for the Tigers and was credited with one save. Freshman David Barth (Findlay, Ohio/Cypress Ranch (Texas)) played the final 45 minutes and made two saves.
