SPRINGFIELD, Ohio - The Wittenberg Tigers took nine more shots than North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) rival Wabash, but none of them found the back of the net in a 2-0 loss to the visiting Little Giants.

Wabash scored in the 10th minute and again in the 85th minute to improve to 2-6 in the NCAC and 4-13 overall. The Tigers lost their eighth straight game following a 5-3-2 start to the 2012 campaign to fall to 5-11-2 overall 0-7-1 in the conference, heading into the season finale against Kenyon at 4 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 27.

Wabash took eight shots to Wittenberg's six in the first half, but the Tigers dominated the closing 45 minutes. However, in pushing for the tying goal, the Tigers allowed a counterattack opportunity that resulted in the final tally of the night.

Sophomore goalkeeper Jeff Mengerink (Delaware, Ohio/Hayes) made four saves while facing 14 Wabash shots in the game. Wabash's Matt Paul made 10 saves at the other end against 23 Wittenberg attempts on goal.

Sophomore Reed Glosser (Toledo, Ohio/Ottawa Hills) pushed up from his defensive spot to lead both teams with six shots in the game, while seniors Daniel Broidy (Bexley, Ohio/Bexley) and Marshall Rowland (Pewee Valley, Ky./South Oldham) added four shots apiece. Four other players finished with two shots.
