SPRINGFIELD, Ohio - A 2-0 win over Earlham in the final game of the 2010 Wittenberg Invitational pushed the Tiger men's soccer team back to even at 3-3-2 Sunday afternoon at Edwards-Maurer Field, capitalizing on an opportunity early in the first to secure the victory.

Just under five minutes in, Tiger senior midfielder/forward Nate Ayres (Hilliard, Ohio/Davidson) took a feed just inside the goalkeeper's box from senior forward Tom Fisher (Ridgefield, Conn./Ridgefield) and put the ball into the top left corner of the net.

The goal ended up as the game winner, followed by a strike from senior forward Robbie Farquhar (Bexley, Ohio/Bexley)from short range to add the insurance in the 72nd minute.

The Tigers took the game despite being outshot 18-4 in the game. Junior goalkeeper Michael Lambeck (Dublin, Ohio/Coffman) stopped all eight shots that came his way to seal the shutout, including three in the first period and five in the second.

Ayres and Farquhar were joined in the shooting column by sophomore defender Alejandro Garcia (Toledo, Ohio/St. Francis) and sophomore forward Marshall Rowland (Pewee Valley, Ky./South Oldham) with one each.

Wittenberg returns to action on Tuesday, Sept. 21, hosting the Mount St. Joseph Lions at 7 p.m.
