Tigers Drop Tuesday Night Contest 3-0 To Kenyon

SPRINGFIELD, Ohio - The Wittenberg men's soccer team dropped a 3-0 decision to visiting Kenyon on Tuesday at Edwards-Maurer Field after falling behind 2-0 in the first half. The loss drops the Tigers to 2-1-1 in the North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) and 5-6-3 overall.

The Kenyon offense pressed the Tigers all night, keeping the ball out of the offensive third long enough to hold Wittenberg to four shots. Two of the shots were on target, including attempts from freshman Kevin Bond (Columbus, Ohio/Bexley) and junior Dan Broidy (Bexley, Ohio/Bexley). The other two shots came from senior Nate Ayres (Hilliard, Ohio/Davidson) and freshman Brian Boutin (Mount Vernon, Ohio/Mount Vernon).

Kenyon opened the scoring 15 minutes into the first half to make it 1-0. Things were quiet most of the rest of the way through the first half, until with two minutes to go, the Lords added their second goal and held a 2-0 lead heading into the break.

Kenyon extended their lead to 3-0 early in the second half, and would have added a fourth tally if not for junior goalkeeper Michael Lambeck's (Dublin, Ohio/Coffman) goal-saving tackle of a ball away from an approaching Kenyon forward in the 80th minute.

Lambeck stopped seven shots in total throughout the game.

The Tigers continue NCAC action with a 7 p.m. contest at Oberlin on Saturday, Oct. 16.
