Michael Lambeck

SPRINGFIELD, Ohio - Two regulation halves and two overtime periods expired without a goal when the Wittenberg men's soccer team hosted Thomas More Wednesday at Edwards-Maurer Field, despite 27 total shots, including 17 on goal. The Tigers moved to 1-2-1 overall on the season.

Wittenberg posted seven shots, all on goal, while Thomas More sent 20 shots to force Tiger junior goalkeeper Michael Lambeck (Dublin, Ohio/Coffman) into ten saves. Several registered as simply acrobatic, keeping the Saints grounded throughout 110 minutes between the posts.

The Tigers were paced by sophomore forward Marshall Rowland (Pewee Valley, Ky./South Oldham) with three shots, followed by senior midfielder/forward Nate Ayres (Hilliard, Ohio/Davidson) with two. Senior forward Tom Fisher (Ridgefield, Conn./Ridgefield) and freshman defender Kevin Bond (Columbus, Ohio/Bexley) each tallied one shot.

The Saints built an edge in corner kicks with 11 to Wittenberg's five, while their forwards individually topped out at four shots.

The Tigers return to action on Saturday, Sept. 11, with a trip to Otterbein College in Westerville, Ohio, for a 5 p.m. match.
