OBERLIN, Ohio - The Wittenberg men's soccer team fell back to even in North Coast Athletic Conference action at 2-2-1 with a 1-0 loss to Oberlin on the road Saturday evening. The Tigers moved to 5-7-3 overall with the decision, despite keeping a quick-triggered Oberlin offense to six shots on goal.

Junior goalkeeper Michael Lambeck (Dublin, Ohio/Coffman) stopped five of them to give the team a shot, only beat by a chance deflection in front of the goal, but the Tigers never found the net.

Oberlin scored the game-deciding goal late in the game in the 78th minute when it deflected off a Tiger defender and into the net.

The defensive and midfield units worked hard to keep Oberlin from getting good looks on goal, including starters Kevin Bond (Columbus, Ohio/Bexley), Brock Hicks (New Albany, Ohio/New Albany), Spencer Hogue (Dublin, Ohio/Jerome) and Dan Broidy (Bexley, Ohio/Bexley).

The starting backfield unit received strong support from the reserves, including Chad Downing (Wapakoneta, Ohio/Wapakoneta), Brian Hertzog (Champaign, Ill./Centennial), and Tim Weissman (Kettering, Ohio/Fairmont).

The Tigers play next in Springfield, hosting the Ohio Wesleyan Battling Bishops in a 7:30 p.m. match at Edwards-Maurer Field on Wednesday, Oct. 20.
