WESTERVILLE, Ohio - The Wittenberg Tigers kicked off the 2008 season in the best way possible, recording a 1-0 win at Ohio Athletic Conference rival Otterbein.
The Tigers won with an age-old recipe for winning soccer.
Freshman goalkeeper Michael Lambeck (Dublin,
Ohio/Coffman) turned away five shots to pick up a win
in his first collegiate start, making an unassisted goal by senior
midfielder Jimmy Thinnes (Cincinnati,
Ohio/LaSalle) early in the second half stand up for a
shutout victory.
The Tigers outshot their hosts 17-11, putting seven on goal. Wittenberg returns to action Wednesday, Sept. 3, at perennial OAC powerhouse Wilmington. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
