Tigers Roll With Four-Goal Outburst Against Quakers

WILMINGTON, Ohio - The Tiger offense jumped out early on the Wilmington Quakers and never looked back as Wittenberg picked up its second non-conference win of the year in emphatic fashion, topping the Quakers 4-1. Brian Glenn (Lewis Center, Ohio/Olentangy) picked up a pair of goals, including the game-winner, as the Tigers saw 10 different players fire shots in at the Quaker net.

Just after the quarter-hour, senior Justin Jenkins (Dublin, Ohio/Coffman) opened up the scoring slate, redirecting a Matt Borland (Kettering, Ohio/Alter) free kick into the goal. With the Tigers up 1-0 in the dying moments before halftime, it was Glenn who doubled the Tiger lead on a flick assist from Merrick Austin (Westerville, Ohio/Central).

Glenn struck again in the 58th minute, with Borland providing his second assist of the night. Eleven minutes later, junior forward Matt Fleissner (Fanwood, NJ/Scotch Plains-Fanwood) putting the finishing touches on an offensive outburst against the OAC foe.

On the night, Wittenberg outshot Wilimington 17-12 while outcornering the Quakers 7-3. Twenty-six Tiger players saw action on the pitch as Steve Dawson's squad continued its quick start to the 2008 season.

Up next for the Tigers - a weekend trip to northeast Indiana, where they will take on Hanover College on Saturday at 4 pm and the host institution on Sunday at 2 p.m. in the Trine Invitational.
