Wittenberg Takes To The Road To Defeat Cedarville

CEDARVILLE, Ohio - The Wittenberg Tigers got back in the win column Tuesday after dropping two straight over the weekend. Host Cedarville fell prey to solid, balanced soccer, including eight shots on goal and 10 shots overall by the Tigers, spread amongst four different players, in a 3-1 Tiger victory.

Just two players are responsible for Wittenberg's three goals. Junior forward Shane Price (Minford, Ohio/Minford) scored the Tigers' second and third goals off assists from junior midfielder Jimmy Thinnes (Cincinnati, Ohio/LaSalle) and sophomore forward Matt Fleissner (Fanwood, NJ/Scotch Plains-Fanwood) respectively. The game's first goal was scored by sophomore Brian Glenn (Lewis Center, Ohio/Olentangy).

Senior goalkeeper Ben McAnnis-Entenman (Portland, Ore./Cleveland) rejected five shots on goal, allowing only one shot to touch net, passing just inside the crossbar. Both teams were hammered for fouls, with Wittenberg receiving 13 and Cedarville earning 14.

Wittenberg next travels to Hiram for conference game No. 1 on Saturday, Sept. 22. The game will begin at 2 p.m. against the 6-0-1 Terriers.
