Tiger Defense Stops Muskingum As Ruef, Price Goals Earn Win

NEW CONCORD, Ohio - The Wittenberg Tigers have been known for balanced play in the 2007 season. Wednesday against Muskingum, the defense threw its weight around a bit, with the offense retaliating with two goals to keep the balance in check and power the Tigers to a 2-0 victory.

A defensive combination of many players helped Wittenberg make the game easy for senior goalie Ben McAnnis-Entenman (Portland, Ore./Cleveland). On the night, he was forced into only one save, and he allowed no goals to preserve the shutout.

The Tigers opened scoring midway through the first period, when Michael Condon (Powell, Ohio/Waterson) fed the ball to a charging Ryan Ruef (Plain City, Ohio/Jonathon Alder), who made it past his opponent on a one-on-one breakaway.

Early in Period 2, Shane Price (Minford, Ohio/Minford) scored off a goalkeeper rebound. Altogether, the Tigers outshot the Muskies, 17-11. Also of note, the game was stopped for 35 minutes due to lightning.
