Wittenberg Rallies For Road Win Over Rose-Hulman

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. - Nothing puts a two-game losing streak in the rearview mirror faster than a successful weekend road trip. The Wittenberg Tigers captured a second consecutive one-goal victory Sunday, topping Rose-Hulman by a final score of 3-2.

The Tigers moved back above the .500 mark at 3-2 on the young season, while Rose-Hulman lost its first game of the season and now stands at 2-1-1. Wittenberg gets right back into it on Wednesday when Muskingum comes calling at Edwards-Maurer Field for a 7 p.m. kickoff.

The Tigers were forced to rally in this one, coming back from 1-0 and 2-1 first-half deficits. Junior Joe Zeller (Springfield, Ohio/North) tied the game in the first half, scoring in the 10th minute off a feed from sophomore Matt Borland (Kettering, Ohio/Alter). Sophomore Justin Jenkins (Dublin, Ohio/Coffman) rallied the troops again, this time in the second half on a penalty kick that tied the game at two with just less than 32 minutes remaining.

Seconds later, senior Ian Acker (Worthington, Ohio/Thomas Worthington) tallied what turned out to a most improbable game-winner off a feed from Jenkins.

That made a winner out of Tiger goalkeeper Ben McAnnis-Entenman (Portland, Ore./Cleveland), who made six saves while going the whole way in net.
