Wittenberg Overcomes Challenge From Urbana

SPRINGFIELD, Ohio - The Tigers won another one-goal game, thanks in part to the continued excellent play of sophomore Sebastian Missura, who recorded a goal and two assists as the Tigers defeated the Blue Knights of Urbana, 3-2.

The Tigers did not waste any time scoring as they scored a goal in the first minute of the game as Missura set up freshman Bryan Lopes for the score. With solid play from the Tiger defense, the game went into halftime with the Tigers hanging on to a one-goal lead.

Wittenberg came out with the same fire in the second half as it had in the first, taking a 2-0 lead just 35 seconds into the second half with a cross from Matt Berry to Missura for a quick strike. Urbana kept fighting, however, using their own quick-attack methods. Three minutes later, Urbana struck back with back-to-back goals in less than a minute to tie the game.

With both sides fighting for the lead, it was the Tigers who got it when Missura found freshman Evan Ingram in front of the goal to put Wittenberg on top. The Tigers held off the Blue Knights the rest of the way to win the game 3-2.

The Tigers are back in action Friday at the Wilmington College Kiwanis Classic. They will take on Transylvania at 5:30 p.m.
