Wittenberg Pulls Off Big Road Win Over Allegheny

MEADVILLE, Pa. - It would be hard to imagine a team needing a win more than the Wittenberg Tigers. Putting a merciful end to a four-game losing streak that was marked by three one-goal losses, including the last two in overtime, the Tigers re-discovered its offense and came up with a clutch 2-0 win at Allegheny on Saturday.

The Tigers improved to 4-6 overall with the win, which was the team's North Coast Athletic Conference opener. The Gators, an NCAC Tournament participant each of the last three years, dropped to 4-4-1 overall and 1-1 in the conference.

After a scoreless first half, the Tigers got the game-winning goal just 10 minutes into the second 45 minutes. Sophomore David Ross scored it after a corner kick. The assists were credited to sophomore Sebastian Missura and sophomore Jason Sucher.

Wittenberg picked up an insurance goal 13 minutes later as sophomore Brian Mutton found the back of the net off an assist from freshman Joe Zeller. In goal, freshman Ben McAnnis-Entenman posted his first career shutout in just his second career start. He had four saves in the game as Allegheny outshot the victorious visitors 11-10.
