Daniel Shields joined the Wittenberg men's lacrosse coaching staff in 2018.

Shields is originally from Perth, Australia before moving to the states his junior year of high school. A crafty attackmen during his playing years, he spent one year at lacrosse junior college power house Onondaga Community College, where he was a part of the Lazers' 2010 national championship team. He then transferred to the University of Mount Olive, where he earned three first-team all-conference selections.

Following his playing career, Shields went back to coach his high school alma mater, Mercer Island, helping them to a 22-1 record and the 2015 State Championship as the offensive coordinator. He then went on to be an assistant coach, serving as the offensive coordinator and goalie coach at Tusculum College in Tennessee. His success at Tusculum included increased offensive productivity by one goal per game and the program's first appearance in its conference playoffs.

“I am really excited about being at Wittenberg because it really feels like such a family atmosphere, and I am really excited to help develop this team and get to the next level,” Shields said.
