Gould Leads Tigers on Edwards-Maurer Field

Springfield, OH- Wittenberg returned to action on Edwards-Maurer Field for a non-conference match-up against the Comets of Capital University in the rain. The Tigers have seen the Comets in action six times in program history with Wittenberg leading the series 4-2. Today the Tigers were not able to improve that series record, facing a 12-9 loss.

Highlights- Scoring for Wittenberg were Kyle Gould (5), Holton Boehmer, Nathan Brown, Nathan Brown, and Nicholas Langenderfer. Gould led the Tigers in scoring with 5 goals on the day, bringing his season total to 17. Nicholas Langenderfer was able to put Wittenberg's first point on the board to answer back to Capital before Gould put two on the board back-to-back. Gould's second goal of the game would be assisted by Nathan Brown to give the Tigers their first lead of the game. Wittenberg tallied two more goals in the second quarter with the first coming from Holton Boehmer, assist by Nicholas Langenderfer. Gould came back in the second for an early hat-trick, giving the Red & White a 5-4 lead. Scoring in the third quarter were Dillion McKeigue and Nathan Brown, trading goals with Capital for another one-point lead. Gould would put up Wittenberg's eighth and ninth points of the game in the fourth quarter, being assisted by Nathan Brown at the 3:23 mark.

Splitting time in goal for the Tigers were Will Westermeyer and Chase Singleton, facing 50 shots and picking up 16 saves on the day. Defensively, Wittenberg tallied 28 ground balls, being led by Colten Simkins with six on the day.

Heading into conference play, the Red & White sit at a 3-4 record with a 2-2 home field advantage.
