Tigers Claim First Victory of Year Over Panthers

Georgetown, TX- The Tigers ended their spring break against the Panthers of Birmingham Southern. After suffering a loss earlier in the week, Wittenberg looked for their first win of the season and with eight different scorers the Tigers were able to do so with a 14-11 score.

Highlights- Wittenberg was led by Nicholas Langenderfer and Dillon McKeigue each with a hat-trick against the Panthers while Nathan Brown led in assists on the day with two of the Tigers four. Wittenberg's first goal of the game came from McKeigue un assisted but the Tigers trailed by one heading into the second quarter. Working from a deficit, Kyle Gould along with Nicholas Langenderfe and McKeigue (assisted by Brown) were able to put points on the board in the second quarter to take Wittenberg into the half down 7-4. The scoring trio of McKeigue, Langenderfe, and Blake Roller along with assisting power from Nathan Brown would be back in the third quarter but the Red & White continued to trail by three. In the final quarter Wittenberg pulled ahead with four back-to-back goals from Connor Matthews (2), Kyle Gould (assisted by Zach Busby), and Langenderfe for a one-point lead and 8:42 remaining. Ethan Pac (assisted by McKeigue) and Nathan Brown were able to put the nail in the coffin with Wittenberg's final points and a score of 14-11.

In goal for the Tigers was Will Westermeyer, facing 28 shots and 17 saves on the day. Defensively, Wittenberg was covering ground balls with 31 on the day being led by Tommy Kipfer with four.
