Tigers Battle the Lords in Conference Play

Gambier, OH- Wittenberg headed to Kenyon College for their fourth conference match-up of the season against the Lords. The Tigers had a tough battle ahead of them against a team whose only conference loss was to the #20 Denison Big Red. The Red & White were able to get on the board in the first two quarter but were unable to secure a win, falling 11-2.

Wittenberg's first goal came from Connor Matthews, his 13th goal of the season, to keep the game within one. During the second quarter the Tigers began to fall behind before Ben Holland was able to get through purple defense with an assist from Kody Gould. Holland's goal marks his 23rd goal of the season while Gould added his eighth assist of the year. Despite falling with a final 11-2 score, the Tigers led in caused turnovers on the day with six coming from James Fuller, Max Benincasa, Braeden Meier, and Connor Matthews. Wittenberg also led in saves with 16 from Ben Shevins.

The Tigers currently sit at number seven in the NCAC with a conference record of 1-3.

Wittenberg Leaders- The Tigers were led by Connor Matthews and Ben Holland on offense with one goal each. Luke Stanfield led in ground balls picking up three on the day with four face-off wins. In goal for the Tigers was Ben Shevins who faced 27 shots with 16 saves on the day.

NCAC Leaders- Wittenberg has three guys in the top ten for statistics in the NCAC. Ben Holland is tied at number six in the conference for goals with 22. Holland continues to lead the NCAC in points tied at number seven with 34 points. In face-off success, Luke Stanfield lands at number nine going 65-118. On the defensive end, Mario Lorelli lands at number five in the NCAC for caused turnovers with 20 on the season. (All statistics are based prior to today's match-up.
