Tigers Tally Second Win Over The Little Giants

Crawfordsville, IN- The Tigers were on the road today for a match-up with the Little Giants of Wabash. This was the second time Wittenberg saw Wabash in competition this season after defeating the Little Giants 18-4 on April 22nd. The Tigers didn't hold back and took out Wabash with a score of 23-3.

Wittenberg was able to put seven goals up in the first quarter, four in the second quarter, six in the third quarter and six in the fourth. The Red & White only allowed one goal from the Little Giants in the first quarter before shutting down Wabash in the second and third quarter.

Lucas Klever got things started for the Tigers in the first quarter with an unassisted goal at the 14:06 mark. Klever came back to assist Andrew Ellis in Wittenberg's second goal of the game at 12:53. Ellis was then able to get on the board with a goal of his own to give the Tigers an early 3-0 lead. Holton Boehmer joined in on the action and picked up his first goal of the game and second career goal with an assist from Connor Rice to give Wittenberg a 4-0 lead. The Red & White were able to put three more points up before the end of the first quarter with goals from Ellis assisted by Noah Mackin, Boehmer with his second goal from Klever, and Michell Steinker  from Klever. Wabash was able to get their first goal of the game at the end of the first quarter but the Tigers headed into the second quarter with a 7-1 lead.

Wittenberg shut down the Little Giants in the second and third quarter but were able to put 10 more points on the board. Rice got through Wabash defense to start the second quarter with an assist from Ellis. Kody Gould got his first goal of the game in the second d quarter with an assist from Rice. The duo came back with a goal from Rice assisted from Gould. Boehmer picked up another goal with an assist from Ellis and the Tigers headed into the third quarter with an 11-1 lead. Fourth quarter goals were score by Klever, Steinker, Boehmer, Ellis, and Ethan Gay with assists from Rice and Klever. Fourth quarter goals were score by Boehmer, Klever, Steinker, Logan Vachon, and Gould with assists from Rice, Gould, and Steinker.

The Tigers were led by Holton Boehmer with six goals on the day, followed by Andrew Ellis with five goals and two assists. On the assisting side Wittenberg was led by Connor Rice with five assists and Lucas Klever with four. Wittenberg led the field in extra man opportunities, going 2-6, ground balls with 61, saves with 7, face-offs (18-30), clears (25-26), and caused turnovers with 18.
