Wittenberg Suffers Home Loss

Springfield, OH- Wittenberg returned home for another match-up with the Battling Bishops of Ohio Wesleyan. The first time the Tigers saw OWU they suffered a 16-6 loss on the road. The second time around, Wittenberg was able to limit Ohio Wesleyans defense to 10 goals but faced another loss and final score of 10-4.

Wittenberg was able to get on the board first with a goal from Lucas Klever off of an assist from Cam Kennedy in the first -quarter. The Battling Bishops were able to answer back with three goals, leaving the Tigers down 3-1 heading into the second quarter. The second quarter was the lowest scoring quarter of the game with only one goal from Ohio Wesleyan to take Wittenberg into the half down 4-1.

Noah Mackin got the third quarter started with an unassisted goal at 7:56 to make the score 4-2. OWU was able to come back with two more goals before Ben Rodell was able to answer with a man down giving the Tigers their third goal of the game. The Tigers were able to get on the board one more time in the fourth quarter with an unassisted goal from freshman, Kody Gould but the Battling Bishops were able to get through Wittenberg defense four times in the fourth quarter to end the game with a 10-4 score.

Wittenberg lead in saves with Max Cavellier who faced 22 shots and made 12 saves on the day to lead the game in saves. Leading Wittenberg on the face-off was Ashton Horiuchi who went 8-14, the Tigers tied the Battling Bishops on face-off wins for the day.

Up Next: The Tigers will be back in action on April 14th to take on the DePauw Tigers on the road. Face-off is scheduled for 7PM.
