SPRINGFIELD, Ohio—Wittenberg men's lacrosse landed seven on the All-North Coast Athletic Conference Squad, the league office announced on Wednesday. The Tigers honorees were highlighted by first team goalie Aaron Blossey and first team long stick midfielder, David Strahm. Wittenberg finished the 2017 campaign with a 9-7 overall mark, and a 6-2 NCAC record after bowing out in the NCAC Tournament semifinals to #19 Ohio Wesleyan University, 9-7.

The Tigers awards included an eighth honoree, as head coach Jay Owen, who just completed his fourth season at the helm for Wittenberg, was named NCAC Coach of the Year. Owen successfully guided a youthful squad through the gauntlet that is the NCAC in 2017, as Owen's career record in the NCAC sits at 20-11.

Aaron Blossey, 1^st Team All-NCAC Goalie, Senior, Rocky River, OH/Rocky River

• Blossey ends his Wittenberg career with over 200 saves in net for the Tigers, while averaging 10.62 goals allowed per contest.
• The senior recorded 106 saves between the pipes for Wittenberg in 2017, featuring a save-percentage of .564.
• Blossey was also named to the 2017 All-Tournament Team upon the conclusion of the NCAC Tournament.
• An accounting major, Blossey was a Chi Alpha Sigma Inductee in 2016, and is an active member of the Phi Gamma Delta fraternity.

David Strahm, 1^st Team All-NCAC Long-Stick Midfield, Senior, Upper Arlington, OH/Upper Arlington

• Strahm recorded six goals for the Tigers in 2017, while picking up 54 ground-balls and 29 total caused turnovers.  
• In his career, Strahm has compiled 134 ground balls, 63 caused turnovers, 11 goals and five assists.
• Strahm is an active member of the Delta Tau Delta fraternity, and plans on pursuing a graduate degree upon graduation.

Anthony LeBarge III, 2^nd Team All-NCAC Defense, Freshman, Cincinnati, OH/Moeller

• Recorded 56 ground balls for the Tigers, while causing 31 turnovers.
• Also recorded three points off of a goal and two assists.

Zach Shy, Honorable Mention All-NCAC Attack, Senior, Columbus, OH/Upper Arlington

• Finished his Tiger career with 69 goals and 47 assists, while scooping up 75 ground balls and causing 11 turnovers.
• Shy's 2017 campaign featured 35 goals, 25 assists and 43 ground-balls.
• A sociology major, Shy is a member of AKD, the National Sociology Honor's Society, and founder and coordinator of the Clark County NAMI center Community Garden Project.
• Shy is currently still seeking employment, but plans to attend Capital Law School for Children and Family law, or Environmental and Energy law.

Michael Coyle, Honorable Mention, All-NCAC Midfield, Freshman, Grosse Pointe, MI/Grosse Pointe South

• In his first season in Springfield, the Michigan native recorded 17 goals, 10 assists, while recording nine groundballs and causing five turnovers.
• Coyle recorded 37 shots on goal in his 13 games played.

Jack Wolfe, Honorable Mention, All-NCAC Defense, Freshman, Detroit, MI/University of Detroit Jesuit

• Wolfe started 15 games for Wittenberg in 2017, as the freshman scooped up 23 ground-balls and caused nine turnovers during his first campaign.

Brent Whitehead, Honorable Mention, All-NCAC Face-Off Specialist, Senior, Dublin, Ohio/Coffman

• Whitehead recorded 74 ground-balls in 2017, while winning 144 face-offs for the Tigers at the center dot.
• The senior recorded 334 face-off wins in his Tiger career, and recorded 160 ground-balls.
• A biology major, Whitehead was a Chi Alpha Sigma Inductee in 2016, as well as an active member of Phi Gamma Delta.
• Whitehead will be attending Medical School upon graduation at the Ohio University Heritage College of Osteopathic Medicine.

Head Coach, Jay Owen, 2017 NCAC Coach of the Year

• Wittenberg head coach Jay Owen was named the 2017 NCAC Men's Lacrosse Coach of the Year for the first time in his career after leading the Tigers to a 6-2 record against league foes and a 9-7 mark overall.
• In four total seasons in Springfield, Owens owns an overall record of 36-25 (.590), which includes a 20-11 (.645) mark in regular season conference games
