COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - The Wittenberg Tigers got everything they wanted on the Spring Break trip to the Rockies, enjoying abundant sunshine, seeing some breathtaking sights and splitting a pair of games against quality competition.

After losing 16-10 to 10th-ranked Roanoke on Wednesday, the Tigers bounced back well against the host Colorado College Tigers, registering a 13-10 victory that evened Wittenberg's record at 2-2. The host Tigers fell to 5-2 with the loss.

The key to victory for the visiting Tigers was a 7-2 scoring burst in the first half that turned a 2-1 deficit into a commanding 8-4 lead with 7:20 left in the second quarter. After Colorado College closed the half with three straights goals, Wittenberg had the answer in a defensive-minded third frame, scoring the lone goal over the 15 minutes, and the visiting Tigers extended their lead back to 11-7 with two scores in the first minute of the fourth quarter.

Colorado College outshot Wittenberg 40-38, and the two teams split 68 ground balls right down the middle. A big key for the visiting Tigers was a 17-10 advantage in face-offs.

Individually, Wittenberg's offense was paced by senior Thomas Fuss (New Albany, Ohio/Gahanna Lincoln) with four goals and one assist, while senior Andrew Fuss (New Albany, Ohio/Gahanna Lincoln) was the main distributor with one goal and three assists. Junior Austin Brady (Pickerington, Ohio/North), senior Jeff Sherman (Atkinson, NH/New Hampton School) and junior Zach Shy (Columbus, Ohio/Upper Arlington) all contributed two goals to the attack.

Senior Will Stocker (Cincinnati, Ohio/Turpin) was tops in ground balls with seven, followed closely by junior Brent Whitehead (Dublin, Ohio/Coffman) with six. Whitehead won 17 of the 26 face-offs he contested.

In goal, it was junior Nick Gregory (Mukilteo, Wash./Kamiak) with a solid performance. He was credited with 11 saves.
