LATROBE, Pa. - The Wittenberg Tigers completed the first leg of the 2014 season with a dominating 13-3 victory over host St. Vincent.

The win was Wittenberg's fourth in a row to start the campaign, and the Tigers' third by at least six goals. The Tigers now head south for their annual training trip to Florida, which will include a game against RPI at IMG Academy near Bradenton.

Wittenberg nearly pitched a shutout in the first half, piling up a 7-0 lead before the Bearcats rallied to score a goal with just 22 seconds left before the intermission. The Tigers continued to control the action in the second half, outscoring the host team 6-2.

For the game, Wittenberg held a 31-18 advantage in shots, although the game's other team statistics were more indicative of a closer contest. The Tigers were charged with one more turnover and six fewer ground balls in the game, while the face-offs were dead even, with each team winning nine.

Individually, it was another big offensive day for the Fuss twins as sophomore Thomas Fuss (New Albany, Ohio/Gahanna Lincoln) finished with three goals and two assists and sophomore Andrew Fuss (New Albany, Ohio/Gahanna Lincoln) contributed two goals and an assist to the attack. The Tigers' leading goal-scorer was junior Sean Kelleher (Lake Forest, Ill./Lake Forest), who poured in four goals on an efficient six shots.

Rounding out the scoring were senior Jordan Shoger (Cleveland Heights, Ohio/Cleveland Heights) with two goals and freshmen Zach Shy (Columbus, Ohio/Upper Arlington) and Quinn McKeown (Concord, Mass./Tabor Academy) with one tally each. Sophomore Matthew Klever (Lebanon, Ohio/Moeller), junior Matt Hugdahl (Eden Prairie, Minn./Eden Prairie) and freshman Joseph Crawford (Arlington, Va./Yorktown) each earned one assist, while senior Jack Bornhofen (Peachtree City, Ga./McIntosh) finished with a pair of helpers.

In goal, junior Jay Dolan (Andover, Mass./Phillips Andover) was solid, finishing with eight saves before giving way to freshman Aaron Blossey (Rocky River, Ohio/Rocky River) for the final 8:40. Dolan also led the Tigers with four ground balls.
